I am looking to park/camp in a pop-up camper in Austin from May until October 2008. I've found RV parks with water, electric and sewer hook-ups that do long-term, but no parks that take pop-ups. Any suggestions? I prefer to stay as close to town as possible, but right outside outside might work.

There used to be a park off Decker Lane…
Outside of town… Hwy 71 W to 2322 (Pace Bend Park RD) there are 3 that will accommodate you. Singing Creek is one of them.

I usually go camping with a tent or pop-up camper in Port Aransas,TX. There, I know you can park steps away from the water. I live in Houston and would like to go somewhere different and a little closer to Houston. I know in Galveston they won't let you camp right on the water. If anyone knows a good place out of Galveston heading toward the Victoria, Port Aransas area please let me know.

If you drive west on seawall blvd, toward Port A. you will see several on the left, where you can camp, just before crystal beach area.

I have an old pop-up camper in Hanson, MA that needs work. I thought the best thing to do would be to sell it to a junkyard. Does anyone know of a somewhat local junk/salvage yard that will come pick it up?

just put a sign out in front of the house and sell it for 50 dollars. you’ll get a buyer in no time.

I'm looking at purchasing a used pop up camper for my family. Just wondering which is the better brand. Any opionions?

I had been looking into both the rockwood and starcraft and found both had good ratings overall. Each one compares well with each other so thebest thing to do is to go look whateach one can offer you!
I kind of liking the rockwood myself but both are good!

My fiance' and I will be getting a pop-up (pull-behind) camper after we marry, and we are looking for a good vehicle for pulling it on camping trips. We want a vehicle fully capeable of towing our future pop-up camper that will also - due to climbing gas prices - get the best fuel economy possible.
On Sunday, July 29th, I failed to find a satisfactory answer.
The pop-up camper we will be towing is a Palomino Pony (http://www.palominorv.com/palomino/site/default.asp?page=product&model=pony).

we tow ours with a murcury mountianeer and the gas milage goes from 20mpg to 17 when we tow it. thats not alot. most pop ups weigh 2-3 thousand pounds and many cars can pull this. my grandparents pulled a 2500 pound camper behind a ford taurus and a crown vic all over the country so it can be done. is what you need to think of is the kind of frame on the car. you can put a high rated hitch on a car but the frame may not be able to handle it. also what size is the popup. there are ones small enough to tow behind a motorcycle and ones 20 foot long that weigh 4 thousand pounds. you should go to the dealership and ask the dealer what car would pull the model camper you want the best. also if your towing it with a car or sation wagon you will most likely need a sway bar for on the highway.

I'm thinking of buying a used pop-up camper, and if it doesn't have a/c, I plan on installing one myself.

I have an '87 pop-up camper that I just bought used from a friend who has rarely used it. I'm wondering if anyone knows how to use the refrigerator in a Starcraft camper without hooking it up to the gas?

You'll have to plug your camper in to 110 volt outlet and open the back of the fridge on the outside and turn it to the 110 Volt setting. Most are gas, 12 volt and 110 volt. If you have the instructions it's best to read them. It's possible that it just don't work.

repairing the front storage box on a pop up camper. And also a small tear in the vinal at the corner where it stretches over the bed corner. Any suggetions.

Don't know about the storage box, but to mend the corners you need a hooked sewing needle, heavy duty, try a camping supply store, they will know what you need, also might be able to find one at places that sell pop up campers. This should work if the tear in in the seam. Otherwise you will have to patch the tear.
