“I don’t know much about what models of popup campers are good or bad. I am looking for the following features: Heat AC Stove Fridge Potty Sleep 6+ Does anyone have any recomendations on popup camper brands/models with these amenities? Does anyone have a brand/model that I should stay away from?”
This is a typical quation from someone starting out looking for a trailer-type camper or pop up camper van.
There are wide range of pop up campers from the small VW bay window campers and larger Vanagons which are motorhome campers, to the fold out trailer configurations like Coleman. Do some research around the different models to match with your needs - and the car you’re going to tow it with.
Most of the newer models are good, I would shy away from older Jayco’s. The Coleman pop-ups are good quality, and have quick set-up. The one I had, I could get set up in five to ten minutes by myself after I had done it a few times. If you’re shopping in ads., a lot of them have “iceboxes” not refrigerators, look for that. Most, (unless you move up to some higher end models, have porta-potties not toilets. The layout /size of them simply prohibits having a dedicated bathroom. If that’s important to you, make sure you check into that.
If you’re going to spend much time parked without electricity, you may want to look for a model that has a heater, and not a furnace. The blowers on the furnaces will suck your battery down quickly. They stay warmer than they look, we used mine during hunting season, and have seen -15 temps. It was nippy in there, but nobody froze.. Have fun, we loved ours.
