i.e., summer storms, or small (catagory 1) hurricanes.
I have stayed in my pop ups in all kinds of weather. I've been in rain, thunder and snow storms. They hold up well if you use common sense. Do not touch the canvas in the rain, it will start a leak.
They are a great way to camp.

It depends on the force of the winds- a strong summer storm might be okay, a category one hurricane would be trouble, I would say. I would strongly advise against it. Even if you were to use anchors, the sides of the canopy act as sails and catch too much wind.
You will have to be the judge of the summer storm, but do not attempt to ride out a hurricane or even gale force winds in a pop up camper. You can check with the manufacturer to see what winds they are rated to withstand, but keep in mind you are dealing with marketers, so I would take what they say with a grain of salt, and stay safe.
